Contributing to events, campaigns, and community initiatives with the Malta LGBTIQ Rights Movement.
I've been involved with MGRM across a range of events and initiatives since 2023 - from thrift sales and pride events to community discussions and outreach. Below is a record of what I've contributed to.
GCHSS Freshers' Days
Volunteered at MGRM's stand at Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School's Freshers' Days. I set up the booth, distributed free merchandise and flyers, and spent the day speaking to new students about MGRM's work and how to get involved.
Pride Village & Pride March
Two days at Pjazza Tritoni, Valletta. I set up and managed MGRM's merchandise stand, spoke to visitors and tourists about the organisation's work, distributed flyers, and gave an interview to KNZ about Malta's queer legislation. On the second day I helped carry MGRM's banner at the front of the Pride March.
Kwir Olimpiks
A community sports day held at St Martin's College, Msida. I helped prepare the grounds, explained rules to participants, kept score across multiple games including a drag race and sack race, and assisted with the awards ceremony and clean-up.
LOLgbtq — Pride Showcase & Fundraiser
A stand-up comedy and performance night held at Tigullio, St Julian's. I set up decorations, managed the merch stand, handled ambient and entrance music for each performer, and controlled audio levels during musical acts including a drag queen and burlesque performer.
I'm Coming Out! — Rethinking Inclusion in Queer Spaces
A panel discussion held at The Meeting Place, Marsa. I helped set up the room and sound system, welcomed attendees, took photos throughout the event for social media, and assisted with the clean-up afterwards.
Out of the Closet
A two-day thrift event held at Ġnien l-Istazzjon, Attard. I helped set up signage, sort and hang donated clothing, manage sales and payments, assist customers, and pack up remaining items for charity at the end of the event.
